Law Practice:
Bill Waterman practiced in the areas of Personal Injury, Insurance Defense, and other areas of Civil Trial Practice for over 30 years
Bill’s experience included handling complex and high exposure “major” cases for Travelers Insurance Staff Counsel, where he served as a Senior Staff Trial Attorney throughout the San Francisco Bay Area
Bill managed thousands of Tort cases, and tried over thirty cases to verdict, plus many more through arbitration and settlement via mediation
Mediation Practice:
Bill’s experience as a Mediator includes handling over two hundred cases in the Contra Costa County Superior Court working with The Congress of Neutrals (Unlawful Detainer, Civil Harassment and Small Claims), and as a Settlement Mentor (day of trial).
Bill also has engaged in private mediation practice since 2017 and is a member of the Contra Costa County Superior Court’s approved mediation panel.
Arbitrator/Judicial Experience:
Bill Waterman was a court-appointed arbitrator in the Contra Costa County Superior Court from 1992 to 2000, and arbitrated Tort, Contract, and other Civil cases.
Law Professor Experience:
Part Time Associate Professor of Law at JFK/National University (2019 to present)
Continuous teaching in the JD and Undergraduate Bachelor's of Paralegal Studies programs - part of the College of Law and Public Service.
Teaching Torts, Remedies, Real Property, Professional Responsibility, Mediation and ADR classes, plus Subject Matter Expert for class development.
